Guys. Forget any other plans you might have had. We have an awesome weekend’s entertainment coming up. Friday night we are proud to be hosting The Pickups. We are big fans of Will Daymond and if the music is anywhere near as cool as his hair, it’s sure to be a blast. Then on Saturday [...]

I just looked at our weekend’s entertainment and thought I’d better let you all know what a cool line-up we have. Tonight, Christchurch’s most intoxicated support band – Von Klap – will be playing before Faster Pussycat Kill Kill who are down from Wellington and well worth a look. Then tomorrow night we have Nightchoir [...]

If you’re looking for something to do tonight you can’t go past Cuba is Japan (Melbourne) who will be gracing us with their hip take on country music. And speaking of cunts and music, Von Klap will be supporting. This has to be the best double-header Christchurch has seen since the good old days (and [...]

We had Full Moon Fiasco in on Saturday night and what a nice bunch of cosmic trippers. If you haven’t already heard of these Wellingtonians, prepare to see more of them. I am glad to see someone is still keeping it real for the hippy freak-out vibe in a world full of too-cool indy bands.

A massive weekend in the Christchurch party calendar with Lesbo Mould on Friday and the Eastern on Saturday. Friday’s metal crowd clocked in a solid night of bourbon, BO and long, brown hair. These dudes must have to keep their hair tied up all week, because they let loose when they bring it out, flicking [...]

The Pixies played Christchurch last night and the atmosphere in the city was electric. It filled me full of hope that good people will support good things and interesting bands will decide to play here. We were fucking packed for Sleepy Age and Rackets. Sorry to everyone that had to wait to get a drink [...]

A wonderful performance of Christmas songs last night which had the crowd bouncing. Comments I overheard included “that’s a pretty good version of that song” and “why do they make everything so sad and depressing?” I like to think of this crowd shot as a visual depiction of just how exciting Tim and Marlon’s performances [...]

Wow, there’s a lot of Die Die Die! fans out there. On a miserable Thursday night when Christchurch city was like a ghost town, this place was absolutely fucking packed. Die Die Die! also win the award for the nicest, easiest to deal with, band of all time. Don’t forget the Renderers tonight.

This weekend we are proud to present what we think is the best weekend’s lineup of any bar in the country this NZ Music Month. Starting with Die Die Die tonight (Thursday), then the Renderers on Friday and Dictaphone Blues on Saturday. Thursday’s gig starts at 10pm and we are expecting a big crowd, so [...]
